S CHOW
Group HR Manager
My HR career has been entirely devoted to the Hotel industry. Spanning
a period of twenty-five years, chalking up experience mainly in the opening
of Hotels among which were international chains, the experiences were as varied
as the start-ups, but the HR encounters have been consistent, only to solidify
after every opening.
The HR portfolio is a fusion of managing change, from the Organization's needs
to the individual employee's. In reacting to the myriad changes in the day-to-day
business trends, HR evolves into a role of building and strengthening trust,
which forms the foundation of successful relationships.
Being a HR specialist, the sense of well being comes from the art of learning
to be a facilitator of change, to focus people's attention on a shared vision,
champion innovation, build partnerships and develop a strong sense of trust
within the Organization and with groups outside the Organization.
The cutting edge of HR management is in making the difference when organizations
are in the constant throes of change, which is, to make recognizable that from
change emerges growth, opportunity, progress and success.
Nothing comes close to the achievement in igniting a continuous passionate commitment
in people in addressing personal and business challenges bit by bit, at every
opportunity, at any time.

SOONG YEW
Group Finance Manager
I have more than 11 years experience in the areas of taxation and corporate
finance. Having spent a reasonable number of years in the commercial environment,
I see the need to recognise revolutionary changes taking place in the field
of management. The complexity of today's business environment has increased
and there is a need to constantly innovate and streamline controls and process
in order to stay ahead. I believe that managers today are expected to do more
with less and to see changes rather than stability as the nature of things in
a dynamic business environment. My role in my organisation also encompasses
the creation of vision and culture values that allows people to create a truly
collaborative workplace. As the Group Finance Manager, I emphasize on teamwork
and results, and the ability to motivate, co-ordinate, communicate and resolve
conflicts.
Workers today are asking that managers share powers and authority. I see the
need to incorporate these changes within my organisation. My vision is to create
a flatter organisation structure with power and information pushed down and
out among fewer layers with team of frontline workers playing new roles as decision
makers.
